Reviews for Savvy Off Road SAV-TLB Billet Aluminum LED Tail Lights for 87-06 Jeep Wrangler YJ & TJ
Extremely high quality, good set of instructions makes it simple to install. Just a tip: mounting the lights to the body of the Jeep is how you ground them. Therefore, they will not work until they are mounted to the Jeep. I didn't realize this which make this install take a lot longer than it should have. All of the LED's still work over a year later.
Awesome lights. The slim look on the body is a HUGE step up from the OEM tail lights. LEDs are bright and look great.
Can't fault the lights, but wanted to pass along that these WILL NOT work if you have the Rugged Ridge Body Armor corner guards. The plastic ones that have the molded-in license plate mount. Looked at this for no less than an hour, just to see if there was any way that I could make them work, but it just wasn't going to happen. Not without butchering either the corner guards, the lights, or both. The machined part is the same size as the OEM lens, not the mounted part of the OEM housing. Which is why they don't use the same real estate. Gotta send them back.
Pricey, but look like very nice, durable parts. It would be good if they did not involve modification, but... I ended up purchasing OEM lights and LED bulbs for my TJ.
The Savvy Offroad taillights are great taillight upgrade! The aluminum housing is great quality and slim profile looks great tucking the tail lights into the body eliminating the old bucket tractor trailer tail lights. The lights/Reverse lights are really bright. I had to cut top of the gas tank filler bracket on my 87 YJ for bottom of driver side tail light to sit flush against body not big deal. Make sure to buy the LED flasher. I also purchased LED license plate bolts for these tailights don’t have light eliminate your license plate. Overall very pleased with quality, great style!
Really impressed with the style and brightness! Be sure to buy the flasher switch, as I did, so the flashers work perfect. Be careful before you cut any of the wires, because on my passenger side, the stock plug would not reach through the original hole, so I had to connect through the fender well. No big deal. Be sure to download the instructions, they were very good and user friendly.
Just installed them and they look great. No directions in the box, found them on Quadratec. The wiring was easy so don't over think it after looking at the directions, just send it! For the price, they should come with a license plate light integrated into the left tail light with the option to wire it up or not. Now I have some nice lights with a competitors site led license plate LED double sided taped to the bottom of the housing which takes away from the look.
Huge upgrade to stock tail lights. Bright and slim profile.
I would recommend including wire diagrams and instructions in the box.
They don't have the brackets for your license plates. Can't use the same holes for your license plate. Before buying have an alternate location for your license plates. Been on back order for months, and don't know that they're getting any in. That said, get a blinker for led's, and the lights look and work great.
Use the instructions as only a guide! The wiring colors on the YJ harness does not match what they printed. You also need to trim your fuel cap bezel, lower your license plate bracket and supply your own means of making a license plate light surely not plug and play. Would have been no more work to put in the round style I’ve used in the past. I’m on the fence with the cost of this product seems to be decent quality Time will tell.
Cool lights but switching to LED tail lights is a hassle I didn’t need going into Labor Day weekend. They don’t make it real clear that you need several things that aren’t included and add another third to your cost to install them and have them work correctly. I would send them back but i’m Into them too much now. I would recommend them to those who have the time and experience to install but if all you need is tail light and are thinking about upgrading, I would recommend plug and play stock replacents. Signed...pretty much disappointed
