Reviews for Lange Originals 014-SIMPLE Hoist-A-Top Simple for 76-26 Jeep CJ7 & Wrangler YJ, JK, & JL
This hoist works fine, as described by the manufacturer. I thought about fabricating something like this myself from scratch, but this is obviously much easier than that. It's a little tricky initially winding the cables onto the 2 spools. It was too loose the 1st time so I started over with each cable weighted down to keep the tension, like a fishing reel.
Received and installed my top hoist today for my Jeep JL. Pretty simple if you just follow the instructions. Finding the joists and studs in the wall and ceiling and then centering all the parts on the wood was the hardest part. Not too bad though if you use a stud finder and a measuring tape. I cranked my top up from the garage floor so it was a little slow, but should be easier when it just goes on or off the jeep. Everything seems pretty balanced and secure.
Great product. Easy to use, and works well. Installation was straight-forward, and fairly easy. I have used the product for several months, and it is still very sturdy as advertised.
Great product and very easy to install. The only addition to the kit I completed was adding 2x4 supports to it once hung supported by straps to take pressure off the top.
Works great. Does not occupy a lot of space in the garage when the roof is not on the Jeep. Easy to use. As others have said, it is deceptively a lot of work. It took my several hours to install. Put in the time, and you'll have your hoist.
Works great so far.
Love it! Easy to use and works as described. For 149.00 it's a deal.
Installation was easy, finding the studs in a garage firewall was not. Once installed works great, wish we had this lift as long as we had the TJ!!!
Bought this and installed it. Installation, if you take the time to do it right will take between 2 to 4 hours. Lange Originals has an install video on YouTube which explains everything to include where the crank mounting bolts go to avoid interference with the wheels and why each pulley has weld spots on the back (hint: on purpose). My setup had the pulleys in line with the ceiling rafters so I had to secure 2x6's to three rafters for my installation. If you follow install instructions and video, this will go up with no issues. Instructions say the gap between the two upper pulleys need to be 34" apart, I think that's a typo and is suppose to be 44" apart as that put one pulley directly over the rear window lift point and one pulley over the front hardtop holes where the straps are used. My setup lifts straight up at both points. Additionally, even being a hand crank (which can be slow for precision movements when lowering), you can use a socket and drill to raise/lower the crank like a motorized lift. No need to spend money on the motorized style if you own a drill. Hope this helps, uploaded 4 pics of my setup.
One of the best products I have ever bought for my jeep. Installed is easy, raising at Lowering the top no problem. Well worth the price!!!
