Jeeps are famous for their versatility, durability, and off-road capability. Unfortunately, they are not known for their sound systems. This becomes increasingly apparent when the top is down, especially with large aftermarket tires. Find out what you are missing with the Alpine PSS-23WRA Full Sound System Upgrade. This 300 watt plug and play kit is specifically designed for the Wrangler JL and Gladiator JT. It includes a high performance 8” subwoofer with built in amplifier, a pair of 1” tweeters, and a four-channel amplifier to completely overhaul your factory sound system. The PSS-23WRA is compatible with both factory and aftermarket head units, and comes with all necessary brackets, hardware, and wiring harnesses. Since the factory speakers lack high and low-end frequency range, Alpine focused their efforts on a subwoofer and tweeters.
Installation Note: On 2-door Wranglers, the PSS-23WRA will fit 2019 and newer Jeeps ONLY. It is not compatible with two-door Wranglers that have scissor style seat brackets, so it will not fit the 2018 2-door Wrangler JL.
Upgrade from Factory: By adding additional low end and top end, the Alpine PSS-23WRA Full Sound System Upgrade completely transforms your Jeep’s factory sound system. Alpine uses amplifiers for both the subwoofer and factory speakers to completely revolutionize audio.
Jeep Specific Design: Alpine designed this kit to be completely plug-n-play for the four-door Jeep Wrangler JL and Gladiator JT. No drilling, cutting, or splicing is required. The included subwoofer/amplifier bracket bolts up directly to the passenger seat bolts. This kit is compatible with both factory and aftermarket head units.

Alpine PSS-23WRA Full Sound System Upgrade Reviews
I just installed this unit today, so have not had much time to experience it, but I do have a few comments re: the installation that may be useful to others here. First, Rob Jarrell must be a warlock, because there is no way the common man installs this in an hour. It took me 3, and there are several reasons why:
First, the wiring harness from the battery to the passenger seat takes a bit of time to figure out how to route it. Once you do, it's easy enough to work with, although for some reason Alpine gives you about 6 feet more harness than necessary for this run, so you end up with a coil of harness sitting under the seat. Not terrible.
Second, my reinstall of the passenger seat did not just bolt back in, easy-peasy. The mounting bracket Alpine provided required a bit of gentle bending to get it to line up correctly with the OEM seat bolt holes, and even once the seat was back in, for some reason, my seat scrapes the side of the subwoofer when I slide the seat back and forth.
Other than these minor hassles, the plug and play is very nice, making connecting the radio the easiest part of the installation (other than installing the replacement tweeters on the dash).
I am curious to see whether the OEM speakers in the roll bar and lower dash will actually not require replacing, as indicated by this kit. I would think that better speakers in those positions might make this an even better system. We'll see.
Overall, it's a nice kit, and for those looking for a factory finish doing it on your own, I think it's worth the spend.
For what it is this upgrade is great. Adds more to the highs and the bass gives it a good kick. It's not what you would get from a complete sound system over haul. However, for my 2 door JL with limited space, it's exactly what I needed for a little more sound. I installed my self with the help of the Quadratec install video. The video makes it a breeze. Had everything laid out, installed, and cleaned up in little over an hour. My only complaint would be the price, but I'm sure the particular engineering that was required to make this so plug and play and a fit perfect added to the price.
Nice compete upgrade kit for a JL Wrangler without the premium stereo. Had my local stereo shop install for $200, so can’t speak to the installation. Overall the sound is a big improvement over factory stock (7” screen, JL Rubicon). Might look at adding a tweeter in the rowbar as well, as the mids sound a little muddy. This said, the new tweeters in the dash make a huge difference and they create a soundstage. I’m pleased with the amount of bass from the under seat subwoofer. Running with the hardtop in winter, so not sure what it will sound like with the top off.
Giving it four stars because at retail ($1299) it’s probably priced $300 too high. Again, happy with the improvement and would recommend if you can afford the $$$.
