Are these direct plug and play? Does a 2023 JL need to be reprogrammed when switching from halogen to LED?
The DV8 Offroad HLCJL-02 LED Headlights are designed as a direct plug-and-play installation for factory halogen setups, typically taking under an hour to install.
However, for a 2023 Jeep Wrangler JL switching from factory halogens to LEDs, reprogramming (flashing) the Jeep's computer is required. If you do not update the body control module (BCM) configuration to indicate that LEDs are installed, you may experience issues such as flickering, bulb-out warning messages, or improper high/low beam operation due to the lower electrical draw of LEDs compared to standard halogen bulbs. This can be done using a dealership scan tool or an aftermarket programmer like a SuperChip or Tazer.
However, for a 2023 Jeep Wrangler JL switching from factory halogens to LEDs, reprogramming (flashing) the Jeep's computer is required.
