Perfect Addition: Adding a tire carrier to your DV8 rear bumper is a great add-on for many reasons. The first obviously is to carry a spare tire in case you get a flat on the trails. Other reasons would be the ability to mount and carry things like a hi-lift jack, trail gear or gerry cans.

DV8 Offroad TC-6 Tire Carrier Reviews
I wasn’t planning on buying a tire carrier at first, because I’m only on 33” tires at the moment. I changed my mind when I realized that my tailgate was starting to sound like a guinea pig in a clothes dryer.
Installing this was fairly simple. There is a spacer that goes in under the top bearing that is not mentioned in the instructions or any online video reviews that I’ve seen. You can’t really tighten the swivel down without it. The tire carrier is pretty beefy and it works well. The prior issues about it not being tight against the tailgate have been resolved and I did not have to make any modifications to make it work. It definitely quieted down my tailgate. My only real complaint is that the powder coating seems to chip off easy, just like the DV8 bumper that it’s on. One good hit and you’ve got a bare spot that’s more prone to rust.
Ive been running the RS-10 bumper with this carrier for a little over 8 months. During initial installation the bearings were a 2-piece design, which were different than the sealed bearings shown in the directions. The way the pivot point is connected to the rear bumper is difficult to get a wrench onto the large nut to tighten it down. And the last thing about the install that was irritating was the turnbuckle that connects the carrier to the tailgate has to be disconnected in order to adjust the preload when the tailgate is shut. If it used a reverse thread on one end, you could adjust the preload easier.
The powdercoat hasn't been a big issue like I have on the bumper, and the squeak/rattle some have had was easily fixed with an old sock and zip tie where the carrier rests in the rubber block on the tailgate. If youre trying to run a spare tire third brake light, and a license plate relocation bracket, the studs are a little short.
Overall, This holds my 85 pound spare with no major issues, and takes the weight of the tailgate.
No instructions included in package. Then when you download them they are missing where to put the black seal. Once installed it rattled like crazy. I am a very mechanical person. The installation was easy. it just rattles to much. I wish it would have worked. Now I have a bumper that I cannot add a tire carrier too.
