Bilstein Front Heavy Duty Gas Shock Reviews
You dont know you really need shocks until you take off the old ones and put these billsteins on and feel a decent difference. Still rides like a jeep of course, but there was a noticeable difference between the old ones and these. The shocks and included hardware and accessories all feel well made and look great. A word of advice, if your old bolts are seized up, safely heat them with a blow torch... do not break the bolts off like I did... not at the fault of this product.
They're the best! Hands Down!
Put these on my stock TJ a year and a half ago. HD shock is too stiff for standard TJ weight and results in awful ride. I contact Bilstein to confirm dimensions and proper application, rebuilt entire rear end (new springs, new bump stops, new control arms) and terrible ride remained. Might be good choice for jeep with tons of extra weight (bumper, gear, rack etc.), but for stock tj, they are bone jarring without 500# of sand in the back to help out. Read similar elsewhere after installation, a bad choice for stock TJ.
