Mean Green Alternator Reviews
These alternators are a fantastic to the weak factory models and they have a good warranty. I put on of these on every Jeep I have.
need to either file down the bracket or quadratec would be a genius if they sold a modified bracket to fit a mean green
great product
This does NOT fit a 1998 XJ. Not by a long shot. Yes, you have to "clearance the bracket" - the alternator fits fine there BUT when you try to mount it it lands directly on the block and the bolt holes are still off by nearly 8mm! YOU HAVE TO CLEARANCE YOUR BLOCK to make this fit. You'll have to file down the area next to your timing chain cover, gasket (and possibly into them) and one of the bracket bolt holes. Seriously, you'd have to file nearly into the threads of one the studs to have enough clearance and bare minimum air gap. No way the risk was worth the reward on that one. I was outside the return window so now I have $500 paperweight that doesn't fit anything. It might work if you do the AC delete and mount it up top but this WILL NOT FIT IN THE STOCK LOCATION. AT ALL. NOT EVEN CLOSE.
