This is a Must for lifted vehicles running any tire larger than stock applications. Ball and socket are assembled using an exclusive threaded preload system that insure precise tolerances for prolonged joint life and precise steering. Ball & shaft are constructed from industry leading SAE 4140 Chromolly steel. Combined with steel insert ensures that these ball joints are an industry leader in durability and strength.

Easy install, solid product

Just got them installed this weekend. They are adjustable so you can tighten them up as they wear. The grease fittings are needle type. They DO come with the split ring threaded inserts as you can see in the attached picture. Seems to be well made and Quadratec is the place to get them......there customer service is great.
Questions
Jeff P.
Do I need any special tools to remove/install these?

Yes, you will likely need special tools to remove and install the Alloy USA 11802 ball joint set on your 1972-1986 Jeep CJ-5, CJ-7, or CJ-8 Scrambler.
For Removal:
Ball Joint Separator (Pickle Fork or Ball Joint Press):
A pickle fork is a wedge-shaped tool that is hammered between the steering knuckle and the ball joint to separate them. It's relatively inexpensive but can damage the ball joint boot, so it's generally only used if you are replacing the ball joint anyway.
A ball joint press is a more controlled way to remove the ball joint without damaging surrounding components. It uses a screw mechanism to press the ball joint out of the knuckle. This is often the preferred method.
Wrench or Socket Set: You'll need these to remove the nuts and bolts securing the ball joint and related suspension parts.
Hammer: If using a pickle fork, you'll need a hammer to strike it.
For Installation:
Ball Joint Press Kit: This is almost essential for proper installation. The kit includes a C-clamp and various adapters (receiving cups and installation cups) that allow you to press the new ball joint squarely into the steering knuckle without damaging it.
Wrench or Socket Set: To tighten the new ball joint's fasteners.
Torque Wrench: It's crucial to tighten the ball joint fasteners to the manufacturer's specified torque to ensure proper seating and prevent premature wear or failure.
Nice-to-Have Tools:
Penetrating Oil: Applying this to rusted fasteners beforehand can make removal much easier.
Gloves and Safety Glasses: Essential for protecting yourself during the process.
Shop Rags: For cleaning up.
