Reviews for Tuff Stuff Performance Alternator For 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
Excellent upgrade to handle additional loads from added electronics , plug and play fits like OE , a must have if you’ve got a winch and lots of lights .
Quality alternator, plenty of power! Looks cool too!
Awesome works great.
Easy peezy
This alternator looks awesome on my 2013 Wrangler. Removal and replacement was pretty easy after watching Motorcity Mechanics on YouTube. He gives a really good step by step of the process. I highly recommend removing the cold air box to give yourself more room to work. It pops right out (see photo of 1/2” bar to compress serpentine belt tensioner). There is a ground point on the left side of the engine compartment by the power steering fluid reservoir for the alternator ground. The new alternator was well packaged and arrived without any damage. Going to Batteries and Bulbs + to get the output checked before I call the job complete.
Original Alternator died on 2011 JKU close to 200k miles, got the 250amp army green Tuff Stuff Alternator as an upgrading replacement to run future dual batteries and winch. Well worth the upsell. While your at it, if you’ve never replaced a belt and idler pulleys before - add those to cart too, might as well replace those while your at it, belt is easier than a battery swap. Both ider pulleys aren’t much harder than a battery swap. And the alternator itself is just 4 nuts/bolts and a quick connector. New Tuff Stuff alternator went in easy, old unit required a prybar to get off it was so tight.... Tuff Stuff alternator is painted, so you’ll want to follow their advise and add a grounding wire, it already comes with a tab for it.
Went with the 250A in black. Great quality in build, and in terms of performance, does exactly as advertised. I have upgraded my alpine system, added a 500w amp, lights, and Genesis dual battery setup. Voltage is almost ALWAYS at 14.2-14.4 without breaking a sweat. Spend the money on this one.
It has now been about five months since installation, and I haven’t once had a low voltage issue with the battery after running lots of amperage-hungry accessories on the trail. This thing is incredibly well built and looks as sharp as the day I installed it. With 210 amps at idle, the winch line speed is increased slightly as well.
Received next day as promised- direct fit; same size and bolt placement as OEM for 2015 JKU. Very well build and very easy to install. Purchased 250 amp in support of light bar/ winch/ speakers, etc. Immediate difference in voltage while both driving and sitting parked. HIGHLY recommended for any jeep with aftermarket equipment requiring power.
Excellent part and is cheaper and more AMps than OEM; I purchased the 175amps, Army green....straight forward install. I noticed an immediate difference; my volts at idle and driving increased, and positively effected everything else that is driven by the alternator. Here is Surprise, AZ we average 110 temps and eats batteries; my factory alternator (2012 JKU) I think was slowly failing. This is a great purchase and I would recommend it for any Jeep.
