Reviews for Tuff Stuff Performance Alternator For 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
After installing two amps, winch, lots of aux lights, extra set of speakers and sub and other electronics my amp finally stopped charging my battery. Got this alternator and boom no more problems. Looks great as well. Very happy with this product.
The quality is great and looks better than the stock alternator. The installation was really easy. It comes with step by step instructions which are good if there was anything that should be added to those instructions is to remove the intake tubing so you have a lot more room to work. All in all a good quality American product.
Makes a bit more noise than the OEM alternator. So far it has worked as expected.
Installed the 250 amp on my 2015 JKUR. Upgraded the wires to the battery, power distribution, and all the ground wires in addition to making sure the alternator had its own ground cable. Cleaned all the ground posts in my engine and wire tabs as well. All was fine the first few days and the multimeter read proper voltage at the battery when off, idling, and up to 2000 RPM +. On day 3 the alternator started whirring while I was on a short drive, got home and I could smell something bad, opened the hood and there was a tiny bit of smoke coming from the alternator. It also fried my battery. I bought a new battery and swapped my old OEM alternator back in while I wait for an alternator from a different company and there have been no issues so it's not a wiring/ground issue.
Good thing Quadratec customer service is responsive, they're the only saving grace in this purchase.
Less than 500 miles and having problems with it. I notice a grinding noise and thought it was my pulley under it. While I replace my pulley I check and notice the belt shaft on the alternator is bent. Not happy with this going down so soon. I did leave a message to customer service and never heard back. Will try another supplier for future parts.
Total garbage. Installed less than 10,000 miles ago and now it overcharges. Ruined a new optima battery. I had the black 175 amp model for my 2013 wrangler.
