Reviews for Clearlidz Front Hardtop Panel for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
I love this product! There was only 1 issues, the design / fit for the JK is based on the factory installed bar wraps being installed. If you have removed these, you will need to figure out a way to support the foam inserts the panel relies on to get a proper seal. I used some pipe insulation foam to make up the 1/2" gap difference.
Idea is really cool and it’s definitely a fun temporary thing to have on the Jeep.
Alignment wasn’t quite right and seats kinda loose.
Made it work but for how expensive this was you’d think everything would line up properly.
I want to be very honest in my review.
The good
Its a very cool idea and adds a lot of nice light in to your jeep.
It blends in fairly well (i have a black top so barely noticeable compared to rest of top)
The not so good
Mine leaks - after installing i get puddles of water on the drivers floorpan and the drivers passenger floorpan. I even repositioned to see if I could improve seal but no luck. I think some of the contributing factors may be in the design. The roof does not seal as tight as the original freedom panels. At the front there is probably 1/4 or more gaps between the windshield edge and front of roof, also larger gap in back than the freedom panels. There is also no "Gutter" on the edge of the roof above the door, unlike the freedom panels. So not sure what the exact design flaw is with the leaking.
The extra pads/seals they provide that go above the door roll bars are not firm or reinforced and sag slightly in the middle, maybe this contributes to leaking issue.
The Tint could be stronger/darker. Plan on seeing the sun! Yes it is like looking through sunglasses or window tint but you will notice the sun up there. I had to install some extra shades as it became annoying driving around. I installed a few of those retractable shades you see on side windows.
I don't believe the claim that it is cooler than factory panels, especially the claim of 25 degrees. Not sure what lab that was tested in. Mine feels hotter and I even had black freedom panels. To be fair I live in Florida, but I don't believe it is any cooler.
The quality control could be a lot better, especially for a product costing in excess of $1k. Mine arrived with 2 nuts missing on the front clamps and 3 bolts/ nuts about to fall off. I had to go to the hardware store to buy some replacements. Kind of annoying that a product of this cost would not be tightened down properly at the factory. My shipping box was damaged so perhaps the nuts fell out in shipping, but they should have been tight to begin with.
It collects waterspots, fingerprints or other dirt easily, so you will need to wipe down more often to keep clear. I may other vehicles glass sunroofs, I either put rain x or wax on them and it solves the issue, not sure that can be done with this product.
There is no cover for it, so if you do plan on removing you will need to wrap in blanket or something else.
I am considering returning but need to review Quadratecs return policy on something like this
roof leaks at front of car. water comes down on top of dashboard every time its rains,
