Reviews for Quadratec RES-Q Teton Series Winch
Had a Warn Zeon 10s on my old JKUS. I decided to go with a Quadratec Stealth 10k for the new JLUR. Couldnt be happier. I actually ordered a Steel line winch and immediately swapped it over to synthetic(since i had a new synthetic cable sitting on the bench). Owners manual listed wireless range at 10 feet, I had no issues using it at 45-50' while in front of the jeep and >30' while on the back/sides of the jeep. Battery cables were more than long enough for my JL. I actually ended up shortening them by about 18" when i installed the NVX 500amp battery isolator solenoid. I never had any complaints with my Warn... but the Stealth 10k is so much better(wireless, LED drum light, removable clutch handle) at HALF the cost. Stealth 10k has a "lower profile" than many other winches, so if your looking for something inconspicuous that allows more air flow to the radiator, this one does both. Roller fairlead bolts are a "shallow head" bolt. I swapped mine out for stainless allen socket head bolts. Provided fairlead bolts are adequate and usable, but make sure you have the proper tools and arent trying to "crank them tight", I swapped because of personal preference on my Hawse lead(note: i purchased a steel cable model and swapped to synthetic line, $5 for new bolts was planned anyhow.). Overall this is a great deal compared to any winch costing up to 2x as much. Quadratec also gave a % off for being a member of a Popular Jeep Forum. Thanks again Quadratec!
First winch, so far so good. Looks great! Install was a sinch, so far everything works as advertised. Haven't used it beyond pretensioning but everything worked well during that process. Will update after use.
One of my long time friends with over 25 years hot rod and mechanic experience was amazed at the high quality of this winch, as well as the price. Steps 1 through 3: While in your friend’s heated garage, open boxes, take off grill, start the jokes. Pics 4 through 13 show the installation onto the aftermarket front bumper with skid plate, using the required drill bit and saw to open the holes through the stock plastic cover. Wires were fed under the air filter, expertly cut, shortened, and re-crimped. Total time (with jokes, new license plate bracket, and Factor 55) was approximately 1 hour. I helped 10% (LOL)
Very satisfied. My install was hella easy because I went from the Q9500 to the new Stealth w/synthetic. It was just a matter of removing the 4 bolts on the bottom, removing the battery connections & it was out with the old & in with the new. The wireless function didn't work immediately but that was an easy fix, I simply followed the instructions for paring & everything is working like a champ!!
Awesome winch, easy install. The battery cables were just about the right length (negative was about 18 inches long) I routed the cables under the grill, along the passenger side of the radiator, in between the rad and the head light housing, then the both tucked in along side the air box and hood all the way back to the battery. Love the amber light over the spool and the wireless remote. Seems to winch pretty quick. All the wired connections are pretty well protected and also color coordinated. Seems really solid. I wish the heat sink veins were also black instead of silver but thats just nitpicking.
Great looking and preforming winch. I bought this one after my older winch "fried" when I went off roading at Rausch along Pole line rd. I thought it was a simple easy install. I didn't have issues with the heads of the bolts. Love the design and the waterproof fact. Hoping this is the last winch I ever buy. Great product.
I like the low profile design of this winch. If you don't look closely at my JL then you might not notice it tucked into the front bumper. I must say, I had the say issue that Glenn H. had with the bolts provided for the fairlead - they hardly have a head, which makes tightening them down more difficult. Provided instructions were easy to follow and wiring this winch was very easy! I love the wireless control and the built in LED light; which were the 2 ultimate factors that led to me choosing this winch. Great Value for the Money here I think!
This winch offers great style and design. I like the fact that with the covered solenoid it can submerge without trouble. It was very simple to install. Finding your path with the wiring from the winch to the battery is the only challenge but still it was simple. I like the wireless control and the built in LED light as well.
My old stealth winch 10 worked great till it broke, but was overall very happy with it, used it just over a dozen times in the last 3 years, and never let me down.
This winch has all the features I could want; power, wireless or wired control, full submersible, and clean look. The reason I went 4 stars rather than 5 was two fold. 1. The instructions failed to give clear (or really any) directions on how to best route the wires. While I figured it out keeping it clear of the radiator, engine, or moving parts it would have been nice to been given even a suggestion or a "not to". 2. It did give direction on the installation of the cable guide which wasn't a big deal but I could see how a little advice would have been nice to confirm how and when to install. For anyone that also has the Quadratec QRC Stubby Front Winch Ready Bumper be aware that while it does fit nicely and the holes line up, access to the back two mounting bolts is a massive hassle to get securely tightened.
