Reviews for AEV 2.5in DualSport XT Suspension System for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
This is an excellent lift kit. The ride quality is better than factory with the Bilstein shocks and all the supplied parts are very good quality. Wish the kit came with longer sway bar end links but there is no issues reusing the originals.
My brother and I installed on my 2014 JK in about 7 hours and about 30 minutes of that was my brother laughing at my tools and the jack stands I had, that apparently were so small he thought I was lowering my Jeep. I blamed the inadequate tools on my kids saying they took them and lost them, but honestly, my big red tool chest is really to impress the neighbors when my garage door is open. I've never worked on a vehicle other than pumping gas and waving my finger at some mechanic for trying to charge me $300 for an oil change. That said, we were able to install my lift and it looks awesome. Now I'm ready to take on any dirt parking lot after a nice rain and make my Jeep look like a guy owns it!
Very Happy! I installed on my 2007 JKUX, replacing a worn out Rough Country 2” lift. I added the control arm relocation brackets to the install. Two of us completed on jack stands in 10 hours. I will caution installation of the relocation brackets on a 3.8L JK, the passenger exhaust is in the way of the upper control arm bolt. I had to loosen exhaust from manifold and pry away to remove and install. I also disconnected the front driveshaft to install the springs. The ride and performance are excellent. The rear track bar setup I believe is key. I have read other reviews stating the front end did not level out. I would agree, it’s not level, but not a detractor for me to recommend. Highly recommended if you want a quality lift with mid range price.
Took 3 non mechanics a whole weekend to put it together and I’ll probably never do it again but it’s not that hard. Overall after everything was tightened, aligned, and with the geometric brackets this thing drives smooth. The difference was outstanding considering I still had OEM suspension on it that was 12 years old. Definitely worth it.
Rides and drives just fine. Not sure it provides any more flex than factory as essentially all it does is lower the factory suspension to give you lift.
Let me just say this. If you want a QUALITY lift kit for your JK, then get this kit. Worth the money, the ride is so much better than just riding stock with 33s on. If getting it professionally installed, chances are they know the deal with this kit. Hands down top choice for 2.5" lift.
A friend of mine (who is a "part time mechanic") and I installed the kit on my 2007 2-Door Wrangler JK in approximately 2 hours. Easy install and looks /rides great! Major improvement over factory suspension. This is my daily driver and I'm very happy with the value.
Installed the AEV lift on our 2013 Rubicon. Installation was straight forward. I chose to do most of the install with Jeep on a lift. I also installed the steering correction kit. Overall I rate the quality high and installed 35” tires. We have already been to Colorado and had no rubbing driving Pukeepsie gulch with no problems.
I installed this in my 2010 JKU Sport in 2013. 73,000 miles later it is still AMAZING! Yes 73,000 miles later! I have had no major drive line issues. I did use the drop down brackets and that made the ride BETTER than stock IMHO. I did my rear CV joint last year at 91k and my front drive shaft U-Joint at the diff went bad at 91k. IMHO these parts wearing were normal life expectancy and maybe even better wear than stock. Just replaced ball joints at 102k. So if you're looking for a lift that will NOT put extra wear on your JKU...take it from 73k miles of testing. This lift ROCKS!
Just installed in a ‘18 JK 2 DR Willy’s and so far very happy with the ride, firm but not harsh. Gained about 3” at all 4 wheels. The springs take the weight of the steel bumper, winch and skid plate very well. The factory springs in the front rode hard after all the extra weight on the nose. Ride much improved. Installed in my garage took me 12 hours by myself with jack & stands. I recommend disconnecting the front drive shaft like the instructions say, otherwise you’ll need spring compressors to get the drivers side front spring in. Also the hardest part was getting at the passenger side top front shock nut & Allen key in the top of the shaft. No access (auto designers/engineers didn’t think too hard about having to replace this shock) unless you remove the battery, fuse box & air cleaner housing. I took one reviewers idea (and used a 1-3/4” hole saw with pilot bit ) and removed some plastic from inside the fender (it’s actually part of the plastic ‘tray’ that holds what’s mentioned above) to gain access. And still had to trim down a 3/16” Allen key with a a hacksaw to make it short enough to get at the top of the shock with it! All said and done nice kit and ride. The Billstein shocks take the bumps very well too. I would recommend if you want a “not too extreme” lift that still rides well on pavement and have added weight on the nose. Good luck!
