Reviews for Smittybilt 76744 SRC Carbine Front Bumper for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
Initial Thoughts: I installed this bumper on a 2012 Rubicon, took me a few hours by myself to install the bumper and a winch. The fit was very good and i did not need to drill/enlarge any of the factory mounting holes as the install instructions suggest. This bumper bolts to the four factory holes on each side of the frame as well as 4 additional holes drilled into the frame cross member for the integrated front skid.
The finish of this bumper was also very good. all welds looked pretty good, the powdercoating was even, and it was well packaged for shipment. Additionally, the back side of the bumper has structural reinforcements that really triangulate the bumper and add strength. Factory fog lights mounted up with no problem using the supplied hardware. There are two hilift jacking points on the front of the bumper which is a nice addtion. The D ring tabs are extremely solid, they pass through the bumper and attach to directly to the frame mounting bracket. They are also welded on the front of the bumper, the back, as well as to the mounting brackets.
A really nice addition was hardware to mount a front license plate right below the winch fairlead support bracket (included).
All in all, for the price, this is a fantastic buy. I plan on leaving another or editing this review after a few wheeling trips and winch pulls.
Installation instructions weren't the best. Still, I was able to figure it out and install it on my own. Really happy with the construction of it and the way it looks. Seems super sturdy.
Great product
I like this bumper's apparent strength and looks, but it was a bear to get to some of the underneath attachment points. This was due to the bracing members that seemed to block many nut/bolt access points. Also, if you are converting from an OEM bumper, you need to know up front that you will have to lengthen the wires for the fog light's relocation toward the ends of the new bumper. Rather than doing more detail work under the Jeep, I elected to go with manufactured cable extenders, so figure another $25 in the purchase price. The last little gotcha is there is no good way to tie down the fog ligh harness, other than via tie wraps. Even with these minor complaints I would buy this bumper again. The SmittyBilt winch fit perfectly.
Great strong bumper and easy install. Only complaint is that it came with some scuffs but I’m not too worried about it since I’ll be adding my own while wheelin’.
Nice bumper. Lined up well on my 17 JKU Rubicon. Only issue was had to grinde a bit to fit in factory fog lights.
Great bumper at a great price. Heavy construction. The install was very simple with basic hand tools. Took me about 2 hours. The hardest part was taking off stock bumper. The winch can be mounted easily after you install bumper on the jeep so I didn't need help lifting the bumper in place.
Very Nice Bumper. Quite Sturdy! Have had it on for a couple months now. Very Sturdy Build- I have run into a few smaller trees and stumps on the trail that would have torn my stock bumper to shreds but this one doesn't even show a scratch! Fitment was spot on with no real modification and Installation was easy!
Bumper is no doubt heavy duty, the welds are solid, the bracing is strong. However installation on a '14 Rubicon was a challenge. Getting to a few of the bolts and nuts was extremely difficult. The instructions were not exactly clear on how and what to do. The bumper itself is great, but the instructions and the access to the main mounting bolts were a challenge.
Awesome bumper, pretty straightforward install. Just know that you'll have to do a little bit of unraveling the fog light wires to get them to fit in the housings
