Rugged Ridge WingMate Rear Bumper Kit Reviews
Bumper is solid, there are plenty of issues to earn the low rating. Couple of positives is the side armor that covers rear quarter panel behind the rear wheel, the bumper allows the use of the stock tow package--ran into issues where some bumpers had to have it removed, and the install was easy, took around two hours to remove old bumper and install the Wingmate.
Issues:
1)The bumper is too thick for the towing connector. The instructions say to just push it in but there is no way to make it happen, ended up gluing it in place. Glue came loose, flopping around and glad I did not lose it before again gluing it down.
2) License plate lighting is something off Temu, off-color LEDs and cheap. Wiring also doesn't fit stock wiring, ended up removing connector and splicing wires. Not the right choice but the easiest. Would have appreciated a decent/better lighting option on a $2,000 bumper.
3) Parksense is gone. The holes for the sensors do not have a way to align the sensors correctly and use a bracket system to retain the sensors. Have been fiddling with it, see if I can manage but as of now, Parksense is no longer working with the new bumper.
4) Tire Carrier is sturdy but has a lot of play. Can visibly see it bounce/move. Has survived its first outing, see how long it keeps going. The tire carrier to carry a 37" also requires mounting at the top, which means it spills over to the other side and takes up a full wing and a half, majority of storage space is gone, could fit traction bars OR a hi-lift.
Back up camera mount kit was easy, seems to hold everything in place and is solid. New position takes a minute to get used to.
The side armor is a nice touch, bumper for the rear and two pieces of side armor that protect the sides. Downside is the powder coating is already chipping and replacing with rust after less than a month.
