Pretty happy with this solution. 5 stars for both quality and ease of putting it together, including using the same sized nuts for all bolts. I debated getting a hard top hoist to mount in my garage ceiling like I had many years ago (different house, different jeep, same wife), but I'm happy I went with this solution because I can take it with me if I move, or sell it with the Jeep and both tops. The base is just thin enough that you can put it in the back of your garage and the jeep tires will straddle it as you park under the hard top, but with little margin for error. Being able to sit the hard top vertically on the hoist is nice also; that's what I've done because I have the room. And I did it all by myself, of course. A second person isn't needed with this solution.

Every part was labelled clearly. I encountered two mistakes in the instructions, but they were minor. One was a mislabeled screw that you probably won't notice, and the other was that the base has two holes to lock the slide in place, one hole to lock it back, and one hole on the other side of the base to lock it forward. The drawing makes it seem like both holes were supposed to be in the back. Once I put it together and used it, I realized the parts were drilled correctly and the instructions were wrong. Again, very minor.

Lessons learned. At it's lowest setting, the height of the stand was too tall to move under the opening of my garage door. I could pull the pin and lower the horizontal top part and just get it in the garage that way, but if you take the top off using the hoist OUTSIDE the garage, you may have trouble getting it into the garage. :-) I was able to, but it took some creativity. I recommend backing the Jeep into the garage and removing or restoring the top that way.

Worth the money. Instructions/video make it a breeze to set up. This product makes taking the top off so much easier than trying to find extra people to help you out. Its very durable, too.

Well worth the cost, easy to use and allows you to remove top with only 1 person. Great storage for top and 2 doors as well.

Get heavy duty quality, was impressed . Makes taking the top off so easy.

Had an electric hoist but took it down when I moved. At the new place I didn’t want to put holes in the walls and go through the hassle of measuring and re-installing the hoist. So, I sold it and bought this. Very easy to assemble and fits nicely in the garage. Base sits significantly lower than the bumper of my car so I don’t have to worry about hitting it pulling my other vehicles in. Very easy to operate and happy with purchase. If you have a hitch on your jeep it does make using the hoist slightly more problematic but doable.
