Reviews for Quadratec Quick Release Mirrors with Square Head for 97-18 Jeep Wrangler TJ, Unlimited, Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK
I have two sets of these mirrors. One set for a JK and one for my JKU. Like many have said they don't tighten well and they whistle at almost any speed. I would give them about a 3.5 stars if I could.
looking at the other mirror options they all seem to have the same issues. So for $50 this isn't a bad choice. A couple of things I would do are: use channel locks or pliers to tighten the knob. this will stop the mirrors from turning in toward the body. Yes you will mark up the plastic knob. Take some black silicone and seal the rubber gasket. It also helps to run the silicone on the outside edge eliminating the "ribs" if you know what I mean.
Quadratec should have the teeth in the mounting bracket made bigger. This would easily stop the mirror from moving. I also would like to see a manufacture come up with a quick release system similar to a bike tire. I quick release clamp would be awesome.
So overall these are not bad but they do have room for improvement.
I like these mirrors a lot. They do have a whistle, but I kinda expected that. What I didn't expect however was having to tighten these down with a crescent wrench in order for them not to move. Hand tight just didn't cut it, and they kept folding in. Now with the wrench I can get them tight to where they don't move. The only problem with that is I have gouges in my knobs now. So only a 4 star for me.
Probably the least expensive pair of mirrors. Deduct a star because of the "whistle" while driving. You need to run a bead of silicone glue around the edge. Or replace the mirror head.
I have had some different mirrors but I really do like them. They are hard to adjust, but once you get them where you want them, they stay pretty well. They do whistle something fierce, so that's annoying, but I think all of these things do.
Solid construction. Works really well. Only complaint is I had to use a channel lock and really torque it to tighten it down enough so it doesn't move. I've had them on for a couple of months and they haven't moved even going 70+ on the freeway. Good product.
Nice product. Came with it's own hardware, but the screws were the exact same size as the OE ones. Had to purchase longer ones to accommodate my light bar brackets.
Good mirrors for price. Vibrate a bit and whistle in the wind
Mirrors look good, installed easy, and effectively allow one to see things behind you BUT they whistle quite loudly once you get up to 45+ mph. Going to drive me crazy eventually..
The brackets are super easy to install and the mirrors are easy to install and remove but they whistle really loud over 40mph.
They do the job that they are supposed to I guess. I've owned them for about 2 years and these days I don't even use them anymore. Why? Well every time a semi truck or dumb truck drove by it caused them to fall down, plus they're just a pain to set up.
They are good mirrors do the job. I just end up looking over my shoulder more than use them.
