Reviews for Quadratec Quick Release Mirrors with Square Head for 97-18 Jeep Wrangler TJ, Unlimited, Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK
This is actually my second set of these mirrors. Pros are that once the brackets are installed, the mirrors can be removed without tools. They are easy to adjust and stay in place even at speeds excess of 90 MPH. Adjust them where you want and TIGHTEN them down! I didn't use any tools for the wing nut. Cons are that they whistle. I believe it is mostly the rubber gasket around the mirror. I use black silicone and caulked the mirror where the rubber meets the metal. It's not noticeable, but I'd rather not have to have done that. The whistling isn't very noticeable any more, but still exists. The mirrors vibrate at almost any speed. I did add blind spot mirrors to both and I feel that is absolutely necessary as the blind spots are atrocious. I couldn't do a mirror re-location because of my light bar brackets so these are the best second.
First the positives: great price, shipped quickly, installed easily, size is perfect. Now the negative: I couldn't for the life of me get them to stay in place on the highway. They'd inevitably fold in at highway speed. I tried a variety of things, including user thicker washers and over tightening, but nothing corrected it. On side streets they worked fine.
Easy to install and fine for driving around town. Pretty much worthless over 40MPH, as the arms and mirrors are blown in by the wind. The whistling others mention is present but not really enough to bother me.
loud. They vibrate a lot also. But must have to stay legal. I later replaced them when I bought the quadratec tube doors.
Whistle will drive you nuts till you figure out how to fix. *** I ran a black silicon around the back where the rubber border meets the metal back.** Air getting in causes whistle, so seal the opening. Would i buy again? No. But for the price its really not a big deal.
Makes a whistling noise when driving and they dont st in place if on the highway or interstate.
Don't drop them!! There are no replacement mirrors to buy. You will need to purchase a complete set over again. They are not worth the double the price.
i have been really disappointed with these mirrors. i love that they're easy to attach - but therein lies the problem. despite tightening them as tight as I reasonably can, the mirrors will not hold up to even basic highway driving, let alone the Interstate. the grooves inside that are designed to create friction / keep the arm from shifting may as well be nonexistent. i feel as though i've wasted my money on these. hopefully i can improvise a solution that will keep them from slipping / falling during normal use.
left side adjust easy little bit annoying
They whistle, and are difficult to adjust to a good rear view. Not really worth the money.
