Reviews for Quadratec Q9500is Stealth Winch with Dyneema Synthetic Rope
The installation was very easy (except for lifting it). The wires were exactly long enough to reach the battery. I haven't had the need to use it yet except for just testing. It looks great on the Jeep. I did have the cover almost blow off one windy day on the interstate. That's when I found that the elastic on the bottom could be tightened. This seems to be a high-quality product and I really like the way it looks.
Very powerful and easy to install
Installed on my JK with 10A Bumper. Holes aligned up perfectly with Rusty's Winch mount. It is a snug fit and the winch is almost unnoticable. Unspooled the cable for the first time and tensioned it up on a slight grade, stopping every once an while to check on how the cable was wrapping onto the spool. Worked fine. The motor was a little warm and the voltage dropped from 14.4 to 13ish while pulling. I liked that there was also a cable guard sleave as you approached the last several feet. I also painted a line on the remote lead jack and female connector making it much easier to align the pins. We will see how it does under more difficult conditions this weekend.
Really, really great winch. It looks great. I was going to save for a Warn winch because I didn't really like the look of the traditional Quadratec winches with the solenoid that is bolted on the rails, but when I saw this I changed my mind. Now, I cannot give a functionality review unfortunately due to the fact I haven't used it yet, but I am sure it will do just fine. The only issue that I have was the aluminum fair lead that was black has turned bronze over a short period of time from the sun. Not a huge deal I kinda like it. It obviously doesn't impede it's functionality but some people might not like that.
Good look. Nice operation. On the initial tensioning I got a little smoke off of the electric motor that was very bothersome but it hasn't duplicated since. Something I'll keep an eye out on. Oh, and the Quadratec emblem was put on upside down by the manufacturer! We'll see if the winch out performs the person that puts on the emblems!!
Good winch for the pricepoint overall, but the motor housing is slightly too wide and strikes the jeeps frame a bit. Ended up having to do some cutting and grinding on my frame to get it to fit right. Overall a solid winch though!
I installed it on the Quadratec QRC bumper. Looks great.
One of the screws on the solenoid housing does not seem long enough. Had to remove a washer to get it to hold. The winch came with it rattling around in the box. I will probably replace the screws with slightly longer ones when I get the chance. Lost a star because the first winch had that solenoid housing mount hole stripped. But Quadratec customer service is great and sent out a replacement.
Have not had a chance to use it yet but installation was very straight forward. I would advise you follow some of the reviews and protect your wires from rubbing before install. I ended up rerunning the wiring using the cheap wire sleeves from home depot.
Love that this winch doesn't stick out and that it fits in the bumper. Went to Laughlin for Labor Day Weekend and the winch was able to get a truck unstuck from the river.
Easy to install and operate.
Installation was fairly difficult. There is zero space between the grille and a winch. When I say zero...it is a slip fit between the grille and the Quadratec Stealth 9500is winch. After installation, the removal of the grille will require the removal of the winch. Do not make the mistake of having the grille off and hang the bumper and tighten it up, if you have mounted your winch. You will NOT get the grille back on. You will have to remove the winch to get the grill on and off with the use of this bumper. By suggestion to Rugged Ridge and the Quadrated would be to make about a 1" spacer to go between the bumper mount and the frame ends to allow the removal of the grille with the winch still mounted. This is a very cumbersome job to remove the winch as it's almost easier to remove the entire bumper and slide it out an inch.
