Quadratec Premium 2" Receiver Hitch Reviews
The instructions provided are for the Sport model Gladiators without the metal rear bumper. If you have a Rubicon or factory metal bumper there are a couple more steps involved. You need to remove the bedside rock sliders that use (3) 15mm bolts. There are also (2) more 15mm rear bumper bolts to be removed on each side, the upper bolts are difficult to reach; a swivel-head ratcheting wrench is extremely helpful here. Additionally, the bottom center of the bumper has (2) T50 bolts to be removed as well. The most difficult and frustrating part of the install is fishing the carriage bolt through the hitch with the provided wire. This took several struggling minutes of violently shaking the bolt to get it all the way through the tubular receiver. It gets jammed up easily and I needed a mini sledge to bang on the metal to get the bolt free'd up. Using a long, flexible magnet pick-up tool here was key. FYI, when installing the receiver, the center bolt calls to be torqued to 300+ foot pounds. I don't have a torque wrench that goes that high so we 1/2" Milwaukee impact ugga-dugga'd that baby to torque spec.
Recommended tools for Rubicon's
-15mm swivel head ratcheting wrench
-T50 bit
-Long, flexible magnet
-Mini-sledge or BFH
-300+ ft. lbs torque wrench or 1/2'" electric impact.
This hitch has been in use for 40k+ and I have never had a worry for loosing a load or bad manners. This tucks right in place like factory.
Great product, great instructions, easy to install! I previously tried to Curt hitch and the powder coating gummed up the threads and it got cross threaded. I returned and tried the Quadratrc brand hitch out of frustration and it had no problems at all. Superior product at around half the price.
