Stellantis CEO Says Hybrids Are a Top Priority for the U.S. Market as Demand Shifts

Stellantis remains committed in its U.S. strategy to put hybrid vehicles at the forefront of its product lineup, marking a clear departure from the fully electric emphasis of previous leadership. Newly appointed CEO Antonio Filosa, who took the helm about six months ago following a leadership transition, recently told investors at a Goldman Sachs conference that the company now believes traditional hybrid powertrains will be “one of the favorite powertrains in the U.S.”

This pivot reflects both evolving consumer preferences and the automaker’s broader goal of rebuilding its U.S. market presence after recent market-share declines.

Rather than focusing heavily on plug-in hybrid models, Filosa emphasized that Stellantis plans to expand conventional hybrid offerings across key brands — including Jeep, Chrysler, and Ram — with vehicles like the Jeep Cherokee hybrid leading the charge.

This move aligns with Stellantis’s effort to align product strategy with buyer demand for fuel-efficient, flexible powertrains that don’t require charging infrastructure, especially as U.S. regulatory and market conditions evolve. The company also highlighted modest gains in U.S. market share alongside discussions with industry peers and policymakers about fuel economy rules, signaling a comprehensive approach to balancing hybrid, gasoline, and selective electrified models in its portfolio.

Stellantis Confirms NACS Charging Access, Opening Tesla Supercharger Network to Future EVs

Stellantis has announced plans to provide its electric vehicle customers with access to the North American Charging Standard (NACS), enabling future Stellantis EVs to use Tesla’s Supercharger network across the United States. The move aligns Stellantis with a growing list of automakers adopting NACS as the dominant charging standard, addressing one of the biggest barriers to EV adoption: reliable, widespread fast-charging access. Beginning in 2026, Stellantis EV owners will be able to use adapters to connect to NACS chargers, with native NACS ports planned for future vehicle platforms.

This decision marks a significant shift in Stellantis’s North American EV strategy, as the company works to improve real-world usability for brands like Jeep, Ram, Chrysler, and Dodge. Access to Tesla’s extensive Supercharger network dramatically expands charging availability, especially in rural areas and along major travel corridors where alternative fast-charging infrastructure can be inconsistent. Stellantis has emphasized that this move is about customer convenience and confidence, ensuring drivers can charge quickly and reliably regardless of location.

By embracing NACS, Stellantis is reinforcing its commitment to electrification while acknowledging the practical realities of today’s charging landscape. As EV adoption continues to evolve, the ability to tap into a proven charging network positions Stellantis brands to better compete in the U.S. market—particularly as the company balances electric, hybrid, and internal combustion offerings moving forward.
