Everyone who purchases a new vehicle, or gets one that is new to them, feels that rush of excitement. A chance to drive something different and experience all kinds of fresh enjoyment.

Of course, those who buy their first Jeep can take that level of enjoyment a lot higher.

And that’s because buying a new Jeep is a big step into a new world that few other vehicles can offer. The start of an automotive adventure that can just as easily lead down the trail as it does the road.

The next step? Making it yours.

Now, you may have heard that whole thing about Just Empty Every Pocket when it comes to modifying your vehicle, but realistically, you don’t have to dive into big lift kits or expensive upgrades (at least not right away). There are plenty of easy, budget-friendly mods that add protection, comfort and style to your Jeep. And all can be installed right in your own driveway or garage with little more than basic hand tools.

Here are some of our favorite simple and affordable mods for new Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator owners.

  • Skill level required: Beginner. Just clean the Jeep’s surface and stick.

Grab Handles (Roll Bar Mounted)

  • Why it’s great: Makes it easier to climb in the vehicle, especially if the Jeep has a suspension lift, and gives passengers something solid to hold on to when the trail gets rough.
