Reviews for Quadratec Premium 2" Receiver Hitch for 18-24 Jeep Wrangler JL
Pictures could have been bigger in the instructions. Also the instructions aren’t for a 4xe so really it’s up to you to figure out how to route the wires from the rear to the front.
The hitch installed without any glitches. The wiring is another issue all together. My biggest concern was that I had to drill holes and install grommets to allow the wiring to enter the driver side of the interior by the driver's tail light and then again to have the wire enter the engine compartment. To do so I had to trust that I would not contact any other wires or obstacles.
The hitch was an easy install and works well.
But the wiring kit didn’t come with a mount for the flat 4 connector.
Instead it came with a different type that won’t fit the supplied flat 4 wire connector.
I wasn’t very happy with that.
The thing is they do make a mount for the flat 4 wire connector but don’t include it.
Hitch itself was super easy to install. Wiring—well, let’s just say the instructions were akin to Frankenstein. While I’ve seen worse (ikea), some parts of the instruction were equivalent to saying “install this” with no explanation as to how/where/with what. Do not mistake the T connections and wiring looms to being able to install everything from the rear— the $800 cost of factory or $1000 after the fact from dealer is directly related to the need to wire through the entire vehicle, through the firewall, and direct to battery. And- you’ll get to have the same challenge! Yippee!
Once all that is accomplished, to finish the install, mounting the 4 pin connector to the connector mount on the hitch might have you lose your mind. The included 4 pin has no housing or casement. So, no way to secure it to the 4pin mount on the hitch. And in true honest fashion, the instructions say to “zip tie the wiring and connector until you need to use it”. I’m- okay?!?
Want a hitch? Great product.
Need it wired to legally tow something/anything? Might be better off getting a new JL or maybe upgrade to a JT! Your $40k+ investment will surely still be worth at least $30k-
Hitch looks great and quick to install. The wiring took a bit longer and found the points to snap it into the vehicle were spot on. The reason for the 2 stars is that when putting in the 2 inch receiver hitch (and I tried 3 different hitches) they would go in about an inch and stop. Looking into the receiver I noticed a slight ridge on all four sides that wouldn't allow the hitch from going in. Now I have to remove it and return it and wait (item temporarily out of stock) I couldn't get ahold of customer service due to it being a weekend.
The install and quality of the 2” receiver went perfectly . However the wiring components to this kit were not functional . The pin to the green wire was either missing or broken. It would not function without this . I was on my way to pick up a boat when I purchased and installed this only but to have this major complication delay my purchase from an individual by a day. The seller was not happy with the delay and neither was I.
Receiver hitch is not compatible with extensions form Curt and Reese as they do not fit. Unfortunately, the receiver hitch has been installed and I was told it is no longer returnable. It looks great as a decoration.
The receiver hitch was a good quality product and easy to install. The wiring harness is another story. I expected a harness that would plug into the tail lights in my jeep and the hitch plug would attach to the hitch plug bracket on the hitch. It doesn't. The wiring directions say to put it in the trunk when your not using it. Besides that you have to run a power wire from the battery to the tail lights. I would not recommend the purchase of the wiring harness.
Its a quarter inch wider that a frame piece on the Wrangler... I expected a much much better fit, Are we supposed to just crank it down to keep it from rattling and bouncing around...
