Reviews for BOLT 7026128 Hood Lock for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
Hood lock works great is was easy to install. I bought a rivet tool and installation was quick. I did have a problem keying the lock originally, but that was user error. If you take your time and follow the directions, you should have no problem. I chatted with customer service and they emailed me a return label and sent out a new hood lock right away. I love not having an extra key to carry around. It will probably not fix hood flutter, but at least it will be secure.
This is great investment for any Jeep enthusiast who requires added security. The instructions were straight-forward and all contained the rivets, and grill pushpins. A MUST HAVE!!!
Won’t keep a thief out, but it will take them a bit longer. Also eliminates hood flutter. Like that it keys to the Jeeps key.
Fits nicely in the grill area. I installed a screen to protect the radiator and the rubber lock cover would not fit. The lock is fine, but without the cover. Keeping it lubed will make it last.
Installed one on both my JKUs in 10 minutes, easy install once you find a rivet gun big enough to handle the included rivets. Harbor freight of course. Best part is they work !
Bought the requisite riveter. From Harbor freight, everything was as described.
Keeps spod intact
Very easy installation, good security.
Exactly as advertised. Key coded 1st attempt and open/locks smoothly. Well built heavy construction. Install took 15 minutes and is solid. Like everyone else, purchased a heavy duty rivet gun from Harbor Freight and it worked flawlessly. Far superior to Tuffy product both in quality and one key feature. Highly recommend.
Easy to install, and setting it up for use with the ignition key was simple. It is barely noticeable on my black 2016 Sahara, it blends right in. The Sahara's factory trim around the grill slots does not interfere with it.
I installed it in part to make it harder to remove the grill (and headlights), and in part to help with hood flutter. While it did improve hood flutter by limiting how far the hood can lift, I did end up ordering solid hood latches also - the hood still moved around more than I liked on very windy days on the interstate.
As noted in another review, the key does not need to be left in the lock while the hood is open. While in the locked position with the key removed the hood can still close normally.
