2011 Wrangler Celebrates its 70 Years

Jeep’s iconic Wrangler celebrated its 70th anniversary for the 2011 model year, and received several interior and exterior cosmetic upgrades designed to add a little refinement to its off-road personality.

Back for 2011 are all trim levels in the Sport, Sahara and Rubicon – and all are available in either 2dr or 4dr Unlimited versions. Additionally, Jeep has a 70th Anniversary Edition available which offers a unique interior mixed with Mopar-exclusive exterior protection products.

New for all trim levels this year are options like heated seats, heated power mirrors, automatic climate control, and a revamped steering wheel complete with buttons for the radio, cruise control and Bluetooth phone connection. Seat headrests have been reshaped and much of the Wrangler’s hard plastic interior has been replaced with more flexible padded materials. Also, hardtop versions now come with slightly more soundproof padding and a 25% larger window glass area to enhance safety, while Sahara edition hardtops sport a paint-match option. Color choices for all Wrangler vehicles include Black, Silver, White, Cosmos Blue, Deep Cherry Red, Yellow, Flame Red, Mango Tango (Orange), Natural Green and Sahara Tan.

All 2011 Wrangler models are powered by a 3.8L V-6 engine which pushes out 202hp and 237 lb-ft of torque, and can be mated with either a 6-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. Gas mileage across all models is 15 city/19 hwy, while towing capacity sits at 2,000 lbs on 2dr models and 3,500 lbs on the Unlimited. Also returning this year are the vehicle’s classic round headlamps, seven-slot grille, trapezoid wheel flares, removable doors, exposed hinges, a fold-down windshield and innovative removable tops that allow the Wrangler to retain the brand’s iconic appearance and function.

The Wrangler Sport ($22,045 base MSRP) and Sahara ($27,745 base MSRP) both utilize a Dana 30 front and Dana 44 rear axle standard, and employ Jeep’s Command-Trac NV241 part-time, two-speed transfer case featuring a 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio. Sport editions sit on 16-inch wheels, while Sahara versions are on 18-inch rims. The Rubicon Wrangler ($29,820 base MSRP) changes to a Dana 44 front axle while keeping the Dana 44 rear., and offers a heavy-duty Rock-Trac NV241 two-speed transfer case with a 4.0:1 low-range gear ratio. The Rubicon also includes electric front and rear locking differentials, disconnecting front sway bar and 32” tires on 17” rims for the ultimate in off-road capability. Finally, Jeep’s 70th Anniversary Wrangler ($29,055 base MSRP) is based off the Sahara line, but adds special edition 18” wheels, stitched dark olive leather seats, special armrests and console, brushed aluminum or chrome interior accents, as well as Berber floor mats and unique cluster overlays and needles. Maximum payload across the line is 1,000 lbs, and tow rating is 2,000 lbs (2dr) and 3,500 lbs (4dr).

As well equipped as your 2011 Wrangler is from the factory, there is always room for improvement! You can check out all the available 2011 Jeep Wrangler accessories here.
