2013 Wrangler Same Rugged Performance, Now More Comfortable

The iconic Jeep Wrangler has long been distinguished because of its rugged, fun, and distinctive good looks. And for 2013, it also became known for one other thing – comfort.

Jeep unveiled new, more comfortable seating throughout its Wrangler line, as well as new premium soft tops that were quieter than previous years and easier to operate. Wrangler Sahara and Rubicon editions also received new wheels. New special edition vehicles for 2013 included the Rubicon 10th Anniversary, Moab and Sport Freedom, which all augmented the standard troop of Sport, Sport S, Sahara and Rubicon models. All editions have either a six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission. Special edition vehicles are known for unique features such as colorful trim packages, custom interior layouts, or hood, bumper and wheel/tire combinations.

Wrangler Sport ($21,165 base MSRP) and Sahara ($26,255 base MSRP) are both fitted with standard Dana 30 front and For 2013, Jeep offered 10 different exterior color choices for its Wrangler vehicles, including Metallic Silver, Black Clearcoat, Bright White, Commando Green, Crush Clearcoat (Orange), Deep Cherry, Dozer Clearcoat (yellow), Dune, Flame Red, Gecko Pearlcoat, Rock Lobster, Rugged Brown and True Blue. Black was also a standard interior color scheme for this model year. Also inside the vehicle is a 6-speaker sound system (Sport) or 7-speaker (Sahara/Rubicon), satellite radio, power windows and locks, as well as available heated seats.

Wrangler’s Sport (base MSRP $22,395) and Sahara (base MSRP $27,895) both continued to offer the Dana 30 front and Dana 44 rear axles standard, as well as a Command-Trac NV241 part-time, two-speed transfer case that features a 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio. Sport editions sit on 16-inch wheels, while Sahara versions are on 18-inch rims. In contrast, Rubicon Wranglers utilize heavy-duty Dana 44 front and rear axles and a Rock-Trac NV241 two-speed transfer case with a 4.0:1 low-range gear ratio. The Rubicon also includes electric front and rear locking differentials, disconnecting front sway bar and 32” tires on 17” rims for the ultimate in off-road capability.

Returning in all models for 2013 is the award-winning 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine, which delivers 285 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque. Fuel economy still hovers at 17/21 mpg city/hwy, while maximum payload sits at 1,000 lbs. In addition, tow capacity remains 2,000 lbs (2dr) and 3,500 lbs (4dr). Rounding out the Wrangler’s look throughout the line are classic round headlamps, the iconic seven-slot grille, trapezoid wheel flares, removable doors, exposed hinges, a fold-down windshield and innovative removable tops.

As well equipped as your 2013 Wrangler is from the factory, there is always room for improvement! You can check out all the available 2013 Jeep Wrangler accessories here.
